KS Webworks - How to get started

Here are the 3 main steps to getting a website started:
  1. Getting a domain name
  2. Designing the website
  3. Hosting the site

Step 1: Getting a domain name
A domain name is what people type into their web browser to locate your site. For example, when you want to go to the website for the New York Times, you type www.newyorktimes.com. Newyorktimes.com is the domain name. Click here to search and see if the domain name you want is available. Generally you can purchase your domain name for only 1 year or for up to 10 years. yourname.kswebworks.com comes with your designed website by us.

Step 2: Designing the website
This step is where the website is really put together. Think about what kind of website you want. What is the main purpose of your website? What information do you want your website to display? Who is your target audience? Are there any websites that you like the look and feel of? The answers to these questions will help us design a personalized site that suits your needs.

Step 3: Hosting the site
Once the website is complete, it needs to be hosted on a server. This means taking all the files that make up your website and putting them on a computer that is constantly connected to the internet. This computer is called a server and we guarantee 99.9% up time. Hosting can be purchased monthly or yearly. Rates vary depending on how big the website is.
